DIAGNOSIS

Forewing: All veins separate; chorda present; bifurcation of anal veins reaching about one-third of wing.
Hindwing: All veins separate; M -stem preserved; only 2 M -veins present.
Forewing shape and markings:
Bathypluta triphaenella adults
Forewing rather narrow, elongate-ovate; apex of forewing slightly notched at vein R 5. Ground colour varying from yellow to reddish or dark brown.
Sexual dimorphism:
Antenna fasciculate-ciliate in male, finely ciliate in female. Sexual dimorphism also expressed in size and colouration of forewing.

Tegumen moderate. Uncus broadly rounded apically, densely bristled; gnathos moderate. Valva elongate, little dilated and densely bristled distally, obliquely truncate apically; sacculus moderately broad but strong. Transtilla narrow, straight. Aedeagus short, tubular, its orifice with somewhat indented edge. Cornuti absent.

Genitalia: 7th sternite not sclerotized, emarginate ventrally. Ostium broad, funnel-shaped. Sterigma very narrow in middle, slightly dilated at the sides, only lamella postvaginalis connected with ventral arms of anterior apophyses. Corpus bursae long; no signum present.

Early stages:
Chaetotaxy of larvae unknown.
Biology:
Larvae of Bathypluta triphaenella were collected from August till December, on Camellia and Cinchona. Adults are day-flying.
Distribution:
Indonesia (Java, Lesser Sunda Islands).
