Uncus atrophied; socii elongate; valva usually with clasper; cucullus often projecting ventrally; aedeagus short, vesica with numerous deciduous cornuti, apex of aedeagus with two (rarely three) fixed cornuti.

Sterigma with distinct anterior part, posterior corners with semi-membranous hairy lobes; cingulum well developed, or posterior part of ductus bursae sclerotized; corpus bursae with two signa.

Notocelia roborana larva
Swatschek, 1958, provides the following diagnosis for the larvae based on chaetotaxy (Notocelia and Pardia): crochets on abdominal prolegs at least partly biordinal; SV group bisetose on seventh and eight abdominal segment, unisetose on ninth (except Notocelia tripunctana). V setae not further apart on ninth than on eighth abdominal segment. L group on shared pinaculum on ninth abdominal segment.
Biology:
One generation yearly; hibernation in larval stage; food plants are Rosaceae and Fagaceae; larvae feed in buds and leaves.
Distribution:
Palaearctic and Nearctic Regions.
